About me.

Hello!

Welcome to La Noire de...

My name is Laura

I love to read, eat healthy food, listen to music, and write

Currently, I am reading Orhan Pamuk’s “Snow,” Salman Rushdie’s “Midnight’s Children,” and Flannery O’connor’s collected short stories. I can’t help but read several books at once and I’m devoted NPR’s selected shorts and the New Yorker Fiction podcasts

I graduated from Reed College in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I wrote my thesis, titled "African Immigration and Integration to Portland, Oregon," under the guidance of Professor Marc Schneiberg.

My family is from Burundi and with my boyfriend, I am always scheming to go back. My current *vision* involves a bed and breakfast in Bujumbura and an arts and community center in Gitega. Now to find a way...

I blog about my life; my internship at the Center For Intercultural Organizing, community activism, creative projects, traveling, new art and literature
